How to Play Chainle
A complete guide to rules, round formats, scoring formulas, and strategy.
Objective
In Chainle, your goal is to discover a single connecting word that logically bridges a set of given clue words across five daily rounds. Each round is worth up to 1,000 points, totaling a maximum daily score of 5,000 points.
The 5 Round Formats
You are given two clue words with a gap between them. Type a word that relates conceptually to both words simultaneously.
Three clues appear. You must find one word that connects to all three clues at once.
A single clue word is shown. Type the word that has the closest semantic association or contextual pairing.
Scoring Mechanics
There is rarely just one single acceptable answer! Words are scored on a spectrum from 0 to 1,000 based on their semantic association strength to all provided clues simultaneously.
- Full Match (950–1,000 pts): The optimal connection word that fits all clues seamlessly.
- Strong Match (800–940 pts): A very close synonym or alternative valid link (e.g. sauce or cheese for pizza/pasta).
- Partial Link (500–790 pts): A word strongly tied to one clue, but only weakly related to the other.
- Invalid/Zero: Words that bear no logical connection, or simply repeating one of the clue words.
